Mandelson retires from the Labour frontbench

Lord Mandelson let it be known today, that he would not be serving in the new labour shadow cabinet.
A great and glorious career has finally come to a close. This isn't the first time that Peter has left the stage. On two previous occasions he was forced to retire early but being the old professional that he is staged comeback tours.

The widely expected move by the Business Secretary will allow a Labour MP in the Commons to confront Tory ministers over their plans. Labour said it was "very difficult" to act as a shadow cabinet minister from the House of Lords. Former

Transport Secretary Lord Adonis has also quit. Former Ministers of State, Pat McFadden and Sadiq Khan have stepped up to take their places in the shadow cabinet.
