Downing Street have just realised a statement on the Cabinet meeting that just took place. It states "The cabinet met shortly after 6pm today. The prime minister thanked his colleagues for all their efforts during the general election campaign and praised Jim Knight [a minister who lost his seat] for his contribution as a parliamentary colleague. The chancellor briefed colleagues on the European financial situation and the prime minister gave an update on Afghanistan. A political cabinet then took place."
